Memory

Outside
There is vast
Turbulent calm
Foam and froth
Blue and black
Grey meets grey at the horizon

Soul waters
Quench my thirst
Dig toes into sand and
Make whole
What I didn’t know I missed

Ache and cry
Let go the poison
Stored in layers of fat
From wealthy months
Devoid of love

Speak softly to my soul
Pull and tease and take
From myself
A memory

More true than what I am now
A memory of what I wanted to be
